Our 500,000 Visitor in 2014

Congratulations to our 500,000 visitor in 2014, Monash University student and Monash Sport Caulfield Member, Adrian Maddaluno!

As a reward, we've given Adrian a free one month health and fitness membership!

Adrian is a regular face at our Caulfield Health and Fitness Center, and couldn't be happier to claim the title of our 500,000 visitor in 2014.

With our 500,000 visitor arriving in June, Monash Sport is in place to hit 1.1 million visits in 2014.

In 2013, Monash Sport received over 1 million visits.

Visits are taken from across our facilities and all campuses and include, but are not limited to, fitness center visits, aquatic facility visits, group fitness class participants and more.

We look forward to hitting our millionth visit in 2014 - will it be you?

Doug Ellis Pool Closure

As members and customers may already be aware, the Doug Ellis Pool at our Clayton Campus will be closed down to allow for work on the roof structure and to complete maintenance works on the Variable Pool.

The pool will be closed on Monday 30 June, to reopen Monday 20 October, 2014.

Note that the main pool and leisure will re-open on Monday 20 October, at the commencement of the Term 4 program, with the variable pool opening on Monday 27 October.

For the most up to date information, visit our website.

Designs of the Doug Ellis Pool works to be completed
This project will fix ongoing maintenance defects associated with the ageing pool roof, upgrade the air handling systems to increase air circulation and customer and staff comfort in the pool hall.

Additionally, the Variable Pool will be re-tilled to match the recent refurbishments to the main pool and spa.  Additionally, acoustic wall panelling to decrease ambient noise will be installed.

Aquatic customers and members with memberships affected by the closure have already been contacted regarding any changes and/or available options specific to their membership or program type.

We hope that all our members and customers will enjoy the improved aquatic environment come October.

See Our Oval in a New Light

Monash Sport is proud to present our four new light towers above the oval.

Testing was completed last week, with the lights fully functional and ready to go.  The towers provide sufficient light for night matches to be played underneath them.
The oval lit up at night

These towers will light up night time games, giving ease to all the late-night game to be played.

This project was partly funded by Facilities and Services, Monash Sport and the Student Services and Amenities Fee.

We look forward to seeing many great games played out under these lights in future.

Facilities Update: Outdoor Refurbishments

Across the next 6 weeks the external pathways, outdoor cafe seating area, and lawn precinct situated adjacent to the back entrance of the Monash Sport building and overlooking the sports fields at Clayton campus will undergo a major refurbishment.

Preliminary works have begun and are expected to be completed by the end of June .

Works have begun on the area
This refurbishment project will improve the area to be a gathering place and will better link Monash Sport to the outdoor fields.
  • Installation of a custom designed stage (deck) with 10amp 3 phase power suitable for presentations and performances
  • New exposed aggregate concrete paving installed to all pathways
  • New central BBQ area
  • New garden beds and shelter walls bordering the central lawn area
  • New bench seating
This project has been funded jointly by the Student Services and Amenities Fee and Monash Sport.

Throughout the refurbishment works, access will be maintained between the back entrance of the Monash Sport building and the sports fields, as well as to the Greenview and Martial Arts rooms.

However, please note that access pathways will need to be redirected/modified at varying times, to enable the full extent of works to be completed across these spaces.

We thank you for your patience during this refurbishment project, as we work towards providing an improved and more welcoming external environment.
